Our California Break  ..  February 22 Through March 20, 2012 We left for our California break after singing with the choir at Ash Wednesday services on February 22nd. We were attempting to get out ahead of a predicted storm. We stayed overnight in Des Moines, Ia. We got as far as Guymon the next day and then made a visit to Sedona and Prescott. before heading further West. We arrived in Carlsbad, CA on February 26th and checked into our accommodations where we stayed the next 2 weeks. We got in a lot of golf and enjoyed the surrounding area although the temperatures were quite cool usually in the 60’s. The 3rd week we stayed on Coronado Island in San Diego. Smaller accommodations but still an enjoyable stay. We were able to meet with our good friends, TJ and Maryola, on a couple of occasions and also were able to spend some time with their daughter, Leah and their new grandson, Andrew. We always enjoy our time with them. We left one day early again to try to get ahead of predicted storms. Our drive home, however, was not too pleasant as we drove through torrential downpours, sand storms and high winds. The Good Lord watched over us and safely returned us home.
