A Visit to New York City ... November 21-24, 2004 |
| Arlene and I went on a tour of New York City with
Tourco's First Line Tours on November 21st and returned on the 24th. We
had a great time and enjoyed the tour. We had to be at the airport at
6:00am and did not reach our hotel in New York until 7:00 pm that
evening. We had a stop over in Chicago and arrived in New York shortly
after noon. We then boarded a bus and were taken on a bus tour of New
York City. Our first stop was South Street Seaport where we were
allowed some time and picked up our tour guide for the afternoon trip.
We had stops at Ground Zero, Grand Central Station, and were taken by
many New York landmarks. We stayed at the Howard Johnson hotel which
was in the heart of the theater district and within walking distance to
Central Park, Rockafeller Center and Time Square. On Monday we were off
to Battery Park to board the ferry into New York Harbor to Liberty
Island to see the Statue of Liberty and from there to Ellis Island. We
also went to the top of the Empire State Building and topped off the
evening by going to the Majestic Theater to see "Phantom of the Opera".
A wonderful day. Tuesday morning was pretty much on our own so we took a walk to Central Park and returned to the hotel at 11:00 am to board the bus to be taken out to lunch at "Tavern on the Green" located in Central Park. A very ritzy restaurant! After lunch we went on to Radio City Music hall to see the Rockettes Spectacular Christmas Show. After the show we visited St. Patrick's Cathedral and Rockafeller Center. Sac's Department Store had their Christmas lighting ceremony at 7:00 pm so Arlene and I stayed around to see it before walking back to our hotel. We left for the airport on Wednesday morning at 8:00 am and after some delays, we arrived back in Minneapolis around 5:00 pm. Here are a few pictures taken during the event. Hope you enjoy them! |
